Innovation in industrial districts: An agent-based simulation model
Despite the wideness of the literature on industrial districts (IDs), the driving processes of ID innovation have not still received much attention: Questions about how new innovation processes emerge, how, when and where they evolve are minimally addressed in the literature. To address these questions new theoretical approaches and methodologies are needed. In the paper we approach this topic ...

متن کاملPopulation Symbiotic Evolution in a Model of Industrial Districts
This paper considers a model of industrial districts where different populations interact symbiotically. The approach consists in the parallel implementation of the model with jESOF, JAS and plain C++. We consider a district decomposition where two populations, workers and firms, cooperate while behaving independently. We can find interesting effects both in terms of worker localization consequ...
متن کاملKnowledge Transfer and Internet Technology in Industrial Districts
The major aim of this paper is to analyse how Internet can impact on knowledge transfer in Industrial Districts (IDs). In order to achieve this goal after the description of principal IDs characteristics and of the knowledge transfer process in IDs we summarise the degree of adoption of Internet technologies in Italian IDs and finally we transpose the knowledge transfer model in the web scenari...
متن کاملAgent-based Models of Industrial Clusters and Districts
Agent-based models, an instance of the wider class of connectionist models, allow bottom-up simulations of organizations constituted by a large number of interacting parts. Thus, geographical clusters of competing or complementary firms constitute an obvious field of application. This contribution explains what agent-based models are, reviews applications in the field of industrial clusters and...
